The Divine Birth and Royal Splendor of Medhankara Buddha

 Welcome back to the third day of our exclusive 20-day series on the 28 Buddhas. Following the era of Tanhankara Buddha, the world witnessed the arrival of the second Buddha of this 'Saramanda Kalpa'— Lord Medhankara.

​The Sacred Birthplace: Yasodhara City

​Medhankara Buddha was born in a magnificent and prosperous city named Yasodhara. It was a land known for its spiritual purity, justice, and the peaceful reign of its rulers.

​Royal Lineage and Parentage

​Born into a noble Kshatriya (warrior) family, his father was King Sudeva and his mother was Queen Yasodhara (Note: Not to be confused with Gautama Buddha's wife; this was the name of Medhankara Buddha's mother).

​Signs of Greatness

​From the moment of his birth, Prince Medhankara possessed an extraordinary radiance. Sages and astrologers predicted that this child was destined to become a 'Mahapurusa' (Great Being) who would liberate the world from the cycle of suffering. The 32 marks of a Great Man were visible on him from a very young age.

​The Three Palaces

​To keep the Prince immersed in worldly comforts, King Sudeva built three grand palaces for him, suited for the three different seasons. Prince Medhankara lived a life of immense luxury and royalty for thousands of years. However, even amidst such splendor, his heart remained detached, often reflecting on the transient nature of life

28 बुद्धों की पावन श्रृंखला में आज हम दूसरे बुद्ध, भगवान मेधंकर के प्रारंभिक जीवन के बारे में जानेंगे। तण्हंकर बुद्ध के बाद, इसी 'सारमण्ड कल्प' में मेधंकर बुद्ध का प्रादुर्भाव हुआ।

​जन्म स्थान: यशोधर नगर

​मेधंकर बुद्ध का जन्म यशोधर (Yasodhara) नामक एक अत्यंत भव्य और समृद्ध नगर में हुआ था। यह नगर अपनी धार्मिक पवित्रता और न्यायप्रिय शासन के लिए प्रसिद्ध था।

​माता-पिता और क्षत्रिय कुल

​वे एक उच्च क्षत्रिय कुल में पैदा हुए थे। उनके पिता का नाम राजा सुदेव (King Sudeva) था और उनकी माता का नाम रानी यशोधरा (Queen Yasodhara) था। (ध्यान दें: यह नाम गौतम बुद्ध की पत्नी के नाम जैसा ही है, लेकिन यह मेधंकर बुद्ध की माता का नाम था)।

​अद्भुत व्यक्तित्व

​मेधंकर बुद्ध बचपन से ही अत्यंत तेजस्वी और शांत स्वभाव के थे। उनके जन्म के समय ज्योतिषियों ने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि यह बालक संसार के दुखों को दूर करने वाला 'महामानव' बनेगा। उनके शरीर पर बुद्धत्व के शुभ लक्षण बचपन से ही दिखाई देने लगे थे।

​तीन ऋतुओं के महल

​राजकुमार मेधंकर के लिए उनके पिता ने तीन अलग-अलग ऋतुओं के अनुसार तीन महल बनवाए थे। उन्होंने हज़ारों वर्षों तक राजसी सुखों का आनंद लिया, लेकिन उनके मन में हमेशा संसार की नश्वरता को लेकर विचार चलते रहते थे।
